We are delighted to add this fabulous American muscle-car to our self-drive hire fleet. With more style than an E-type and more attitude than an Aston, our jaw dropping 1968 Mustang Fastback has to be one of the coolest cars of all time.
It was a 68 Fastback that Steve McQueen drove in arguably the most famous car chase film of all time, Bullitt . Many years later a Fastback starred in Gone in 60 Seconds as ' Eleanor ' driven by Nicolas Cage, bringing the Mustang to the attention of a whole new generation of car lovers.
Our car is an original left-hand drive Fastback with no additional fibreglass scoops or bulges! She was completely rebuilt in 2003 and resprayed in the stunning metallic ice-green colour she still carries today.
Emily (named by the Colorado mechanic who restored her) comes with her original 4-speed manual "toploader" gearbox, topped off with a Hurst Quickshifter. She has original factory-fitted power steering and heavy duty suspension, but has been upgraded with front power assisted disk brakes (essential for driving on British roads) and period style air conditioning.
Power comes in the form of a mighty Ford 351 Windsor V8 over-bored to give around 6 litres capacity. This breathes through tubular headers and a custom twin 2 1/2" Flow Master Muffler exhaust system, which sounds awesome.
Not a car for the inexperienced driver or the shy - you will be the centre of attention wherever you go! Why not treat yourself or someone special to this unique driving experience, the ONLY self-drive hire Mustang in Scotland!
Please note: this is a left-hand drive car with lap belts (airline style) in the front and back.
